BJP today termed as "laughable" comments of Rahul Gandhi that personality-oriented politics of Narendra Modi is not in national interest and said what can one expect from a party which does dynastic politics and only takes care of a family's interests.

BJP's Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad said the nation is keen for a change and has already seen Rahul Gandhi's "capability and talent but rejected it".

Party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said Congress, which runs through dynastic politics and takes decisions which are in the interests of the particular family, cannot think about the nation.

"Rahul Gandhi making a comment like this is laughable. He is going to be declared as a Prime Ministerial candidate by his party because of his family connection and because Congress party cannot think beyond the family.

"His campaign, his political approach, his silence on a whole range of corruption issues have already been rejected by the people in so many elections," Prasad said.

Lekhi said, "The party which does favoritism, those who run dynastic politics, what can they say about personality- oriented politics. The party takes only those decisions which suits a family."

Prasad said, "Nothing better can be expected of Rahul Gandhi. I need to gently remind him that it is only happening in BJP that a person born in a humble background can be declared a Prime Ministerial candidate because of his hard work, his integrity, his leadership and also his record of good governance."

Deriding the BJP campaign to make the Gujarat Chief Minister as the next Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi today said that personality oriented rule is "not in the national interest".

The "government should not be run on the whims and fancies of a particular person. The future of 120 crore people can be shaped up and improved only by taking everybody along", the Congress Vice President said in an interview to a Hindi daily.
