Karnataka Higher Education Minister today said there was no truth in reports that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been summoned to Delhi by Congress high command in the wake of several legislators and leaders blaming him for the party's not so impressive show in the Lok Sabha elections.

Siddaramaiah is in Delhi after he was summoned by the party's central leadership to discuss and assess the party's poor performance in the Lok Sabha polls in which it secured only nine out of 28 seats, leaving 17 to BJP and two to JDS.

The education Minister R V Deshpande said the Chief Minister was doing "good" work and all the legislators were supporting him.

He also refuted the opposition allegations that the Siddaramaiah government is seen as an "Ahinda" government. Ahinda is an acronym for alpasankhyata (minorities), hindulida (backward) and dalita (dalit) in Kannada.

"It is wrong on the part of the opposition to see Siddaramaiah's government as Ahinda government. Siddaramaiah has been working for all the sections of the society," he said.

On allegations that Siddaramaiah had his way to nominate Council members from his coterie, Deshpande said it was wrong to blame the Chief Minister as their names were approved by the High Command. "It was also done in consultation with the cabinet," he added.

Replying to another query, Deshpande said, he is not in contention for the chief minister's post.
