Prozpekt  breaks through You Tube 100 most viewed videos and 4th most viewed music video in India in one day of internet launch

Angst ridden and taking broad swipes at corruption, politics, politicians and everything else that seems wrong with the nation, Young Prozpekt’s maiden Hindi Rap Video is creating waves in just one day of its debut on You Tube.  At 1 p.m. on Monday 4th October YP’s video track ‘Kaisa mera desh” [unofficial Commonwealth Games Anthem] became the 4th most viewed music video in India even as it breached the top 100 viewed videos on You Tube in the country.

Prozpekt  aka K dot K a Mumbai based artist has persisted in maintaining that Rap will not succeed in India until it is indigenized and Hindi-ised. “Rap as a genre is all about angst – about feeling and real emotions – it can’t be imported or re-packaged. It has to be local and it has to be real”, he says.

The track “Kaisa Mera Desh” is a reflection of what I see around and what people are feeling in general. I don’t know about the response, but my hunch is that we are all feeling let down by the quality of leadership in our country” he adds.
