ISACA Mumbai Chapter confers the IT Governance and IT Security Awards

In order to ensure that awareness and initiatives of IT Governance and IT Security are spread across companies in India, the Mumbai Chapter of ISACA, conferred the IT Governance Award and IT Security Award to organisations for implementing the best practices in IT Governance and IT Security at their respective workplaces. The award for Excellence in IT Governance was awarded to HDFC Bank Limited and the award for IT Security was bestowed to Reliance Communications Ltd and India First Life Insurance Company Limited. The jury for the selection of the awards consisted of eminent IT experts independent of ISACA. The award ceremony of the ISACA Mumbai Chapter, took place in the city on 26th and 27th August and also commemorated the 15th Annual Conference of the Mumbai Chapter. The theme of this two day conference was “Effective Security sans Constraint”. The Chief Guests for the event was Mr. F.C.Kohli, Former Deputy Chairman of Tata Consultancy Services.

The two day event showcased Case Study presentation from over 150 participants on the sub theme of Governance and Value Creation and Assurance through Security, Risk Management and Audit. This was also followed by the philosophy of seeking freedom from the two fundamental issues plaguing the Corporate World today and that is:

I. Information Systems Mal-Governance

II. Inadequate Information Systems Security

Speaking on the lines of the event, Nandamohan Shenoy, President ISACA Mumbai Chapter and Conference Chairman, said “ The Chapter has seen an encouraging response from corporates, who were keen to participate and present their Case Studies showcasing the implementation of best practices in IT Governance and IT Security”.

ISACA Mumbai Chapter has been in operation since 1993 and has been very active in its support to ISACA’s commitment to education, certification and expanding the knowledge base of the profession through a commitment to research. The Mumbai Chapter of ISACA has been the largest chapter in India and about the 10th largest in the world. The Mumbai Chapter has a strong membership of around 1388 members who constantly strive to provide enriching seminars, training workshops for professional development. Across India, ISACA has a strong membership base of 5,510 IT professionals.
