"Considering the seriousness and consequences of the violence, a CBI enquiry should be directed to find out the root cause of the violence in the greater interest of the country," AIUDF President Badruddin Ajmal, said at a meeting with the Prime Minister at the airport here.

The BTAD administration and Assam Home Department had advance information that such a disturbance might take place in the area, but unfortunately, they either failed or ignored to take preventive measures, Ajmal alleged.

"The violence could have been avoided had the BTAD administration and Assam government taken appropriate action in time," he claimed alleging that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, being in-charge of the Home department, was solely responsible for it.

Ajmal heading a 24-member party delegation submitted a memorandum demanding that the Bodoland Territorial Council be dissolved immediately and the deputy commissioner and superintendents of police along with some administrative officers be punished for negligence.

The party also demanded seizure of illegal and legal arms in the affected districts and deployment of more army columns.

The party demanded that minorities of BTAD areas, who had taken shelter in camps outside the area, be shifted immediately back to their homes with army security within seven days.
