1 killed, 15 injured as bus overturns in Punjab

One person was killed and 15 others were injured when a private bus in which they were travelling overturned near here today.
The accident took place when a stray animal suddenly came on the road and the driver in a bid to save the animal lost control over the vehicle following which it overturned, police said.
The deceased was identified as Pyara Singh of Mukand Singh Wala village in Ferozepur district, they said, adding, the body has been sent to a local hospital for post-mortem.
15 passengers received minor injuries and were given first-aid at the nearby dispensary in village Ropana, police added.

A large number of villagers rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers.
