Kalna Additional SP (Rural) Prasanta Choudhury said two groups engaged in vandalism in the railway station, also damaged three police vehicles and set fire to some nearby shops.
Choudhury's vehicle and three other policemen vehicles were also damaged in the incident.
The persons also damaged window panes and office in the railway station.
Following the incident the Howrah-Katwa-Nabadeep road services have been affected.
