10-year RI for man who ditched lover after making her pregnant

A man who went back on his promise of marrying his lover after making her pregnant was today convicted for rape charge and sentenced to ten years rigorous imprisonment by a court here.
Fast Track Mahila Court Judge M Prakasan also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on Malaichamy for the maintenance of the four-year old child born through him.
According to the prosecution, Malaichamy, a driver, pretended to love the woman and promised to marry her and made her pregnant. But after she became pregnant, he refused to marry and asked her to abort the baby.
On a complaint from the woman, police had registered the case against Malaichamy.
