An eleven-day long beach festival would be held at the Panambur beach here from December 20.
Speaking to reporters after releasing the logo of the festival, District in Charge Minister Ramanath Rai said the organisers were trying to get permission from the authorities to conduct a cruise service during the festival.
Cultural troupes from Kala Mandalam in Kerala and Gujarat would present traditional cultural programmes, Yathish Baikampady of Beach Utsav Committee said.
Beach volley ball, cricket, throw ball, kabbadi, sand art, kite flying and other competitions would be held to add colour to the festival. A food festival, including traditional dishes of Kerala, Gujarat, Uttara Kannada, Malnad and coastal Dakshina Kannada, would also be held.
A cultural procession would be held before the inauguration of the Utsav, Rai said.
The Utsav Procession Committee has invited applications from various folk teams to participate in the procession from Nehru Maidan to exhibition grounds on December 19.
