"117 villages have been electrified across the country during last week (from 23rd to 29th May 2016) under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY)," it said in a statement.
Out of these electrified villages, 18 villages are in Arunachal Pradesh, 26 in Assam, 23 in Jharkhand, one in Rajasthan, six in Madhya Pradesh, three in Uttar Pradesh, five in Bihar, two in Chhattisgarh, 11 in Odisha and 22 in Meghalaya, it said.

Karnataka Bank gets Greentech award for safety and security

Bank of Maharashtra to hire 1,315 candidates in 2016-17 * State-run Bank of Maharashtra today said it will be hiring 1,315 candidates on various posts across the country in the financial year 2016-17.
The bank is seeking candidates for various cadres including clerks, probationary officers at junior manager (scale-I), manager (scale-II) and senior manager (scale-III) levels, it said in a statement.
The bank will also be hiring clerks with agricultural and legal background.

Birla Sun Life AMC launches close-ended equity scheme * Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company (AMC) has launched Resurgent India Fund-series 1, a close-ended equity scheme with a tenure of 3.5 years from and including the date of allotment.
The new fund offer opens for subscription from August 25-September 8 with price of units of the scheme at face value of Rs10 per unit, a company said in statement issued here.
"Our NFO looks to provide investors a good opportunity to make the most of this growth phase over the 3.5-year horizon," Birla Sun Life AMC chief executive A Balasubramanian said.
NTPC's Koldam hydro station records highest PLF in July
NTPC Ltd's Koldam hydro power station has achieved the highest plant load factor (PLF) or capacity utilisation of 107.27 per cent among all central and state plants in July this year.
NTPC entered hydro power generation with the 800 MW Koldam Hydro Project in Himachal Pradesh on river Satluj. Koldam began its commercial operation on July 18, 2015.
In 2015-16 its generated 1794.71 Million units of electricity which is more than 105 per cent of design energy. With commissioning of Koldam (4x200 MW) HPS, NTPC has given impetus to hydro power growth in the country, it added.
Avery Dennison announces 'Spirit of Invention' scholarship * Avery Dennison Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Avery Dennison Corporation, today announced the winners of the fifth edition of InvEnt 'Spirit of Invention' Scholarship in India, at an event held here.
