12 killed, nine injured in road accident in Gujarat

Twelve people, including three women and as many children, were killed when a luxury bus was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction near Kosamba in Surat district, police said.
The truck driver was also among those killed in the mishap.
"Twelve people died in the accident, including three women and three children, and nine were injured when the driver of an iron-pipes laden truck lost control over his vehicle and hit the luxury bus late last night on National Highway-8 near Kosamba railway over-bridge," Kosamba Police Inspector N M Prajapati told PTI today.
The truck, after crossing over the divider, crashed on the side of the luxury bus, which was going to Amreli from Surat. A tempo which was behind the bus also hit the ill-fated vehicle, police said.

Police and rescue workers had to cut the sides of the bus to rescue the passengers, the inspector said.
All the injured have been admitted to different hospitals in Bharuch city and were reported to be out of danger.
