13 militants killed in airstrikes

Two Pakistani soldiers were killed in a gun-battle with militants after airstrikes left at least 13 militants dead in the country's restive tribal region, a security official said today.
Army helicopter gunships pounded rebel positions in Sipah, Akakhel and Nala Malikden khel area of Khyber yesterday.
A security official said that 13 militants were killed and five of their hideouts were destroyed.
Elsewhere, soldiers clashed with rebels in Bara and Tirah areas of the same district, in which two soldiers were killed and another five injured.
The security forces last month launched operation in the areas to clear it of the militants.
So far over 50 rebels have been killed.
The areas is controlled by al-Qaeda linked Lashkar-e-Islam group led by Mangal Bagh.
