The accused called the eight-year-old girl, who lived in his neighbourhood, to his place to watch television and sexually assaulted her four days back, they said.
The girl then informed her family about the offence following which they filed a complaint with police.
The boy was detained for questioning today, police said, adding that offences under relevant sections were registered against him.
