Fifteen inmates escaped from a government-run juvenile home in Transport Nagar here, prompting the authorities to launch an inquiry.
The juveniles escaped through the main gate which was opened last evening and the matter came to light when a roll call was done later.
"The superintendent of the home lodged a complaint and a search has been launched to trace them," a police officer said.
The juveniles were lodged at the home for rehabilitation.
An official of the Child Empowerment Department said an inquiry was being conducted to ascertain the facts with regards to the incident.
