15-year-old tusker dies in fight with other elephants

The carcass of a 15-year-old male elephant was found near a river in Mathipalayam on the city outskirts,with injuries on the abdomen and other parts, forest officials today said.
The carcass was noticed by some farmers, who claimed that three elephants had come to the area in the early hours and fought with each other, officials said.
Being the mating season, elephants from Kerala and Karnataka pass through this area and some time they fight with each other, they said.
On information, official from forest and police department visited the area and claimed that the elephant died due to the fight with other elephants.

The tusks were intact, officials said.
