At least 150 bonded labourers, including 45 children, were today rescued from a brick kiln in the district, police said.
A team of district administration and district child welfare committee raided the kiln on NH-11 and freed the labourers, who are the members of 45 families.
The victims, all of them from Uttar Pradesh, were working at the kiln for last 6-7 months.
The labourers were not given proper wages and there was no arrangement for education of children, the officials alleged.
Directions were given to the police for taking stern action against the kiln owner, while efforts are being taken to rehabilitate the rescued labourers, they added.
