Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (PVVNL) had filed the complaints for alleged irregularities in the Loni area, which included cases of illegal restoration of power lines which had been disconnected for non-payment of dues.
"We were getting information about such irregularities and had launched a drive this month to crack down on it," said SK Singh, executive engineer, PVVNL.
"We are facing frequent power cuts in our area these days, lasting from between five to 15 hours.
"We pay our bills on time but despite that, the electricity department isn't able to provide better power supply to us," said Rajni Mishra, a resident of Masuri area.
