The seizure was made late last night during a routine checking of vehicles at Shahjahanpur outpost under Sarsawa police station in the district here, Saharanpur SSP Nitin Tiwari said.
An ambulance coming from Haryana was intercepted, he said, adding, on being questioned, the driver said that he was returning after admitting a patient at PGIMER in Chandigarh.
As the police started checking the ambulance, the accused drove the vehicle in full speed, following which the cops chased him, Tiwari said.
Police have seized the liquor as well as the ambulance and hunt is on for the absconding driver, he said.
