The incident occurred early this morning when the occupants were returning to Chennai in a car from Tirupur, they said.
When the car approached Gettiseviyur village, the driver lost control of the vehicle and dashed it against the median, following which it capsized.
All four including the child, sustained serious bleeding injuries, police said.
While the child succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital, the others are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Coimbatore, they added.
