At around 7.45 AM the truck coming from the opposite direction hit the schoolbus at New Town's Akshanka crossing, a senior officer of the Bidhannagar Police said.
According to witnesses there, local people plunged into rescu effort before the police reached the accident spot.
"The windscreen of the bus was broken to get inside and rescue the children as the vehicle was overturned on its side where the entrance gate was," the officer said.
Roughly two months ago the driver of a pull car of a reputed girls' school in the city died after it collided with a pillar in the Karaya police station area.
