19-year-old arrested for molesting woman in Mumbai

A 19-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly molesting a Delhi-based media professional in south Mumbai's Colaba area, a senior police official said today.

The incident took place at midnight on Wednesday when the 25-year-old woman was returning to the hotel where she was staying, police said.

The woman had lodged a complaint with Colaba police that a person on a bike had touched her inappropriately, while she was on her way to her hotel, and had sped away.

Police today said that the youth, identified as Luv Kule, was tracked down yesterday night to his residence in Cuffe Parade, near Colaba, following which he was placed under arrest.

An official said that Kule has told police that his motorcycle had slipped and this caused him to accidentally touch the complainant.

"Kule has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC for molestation. Further investigations are underway," said Manoj Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone I.
