Customs officials at International Airport here have arrested two persons for allegedly trying to smuggle out foreign currency notes of different countries.
The arrest last evening came a day after four persons were held on similar charges on Wednesday, airport officials said.
Officials suspect that the currency was being transported to Gulf regions for making payment for gold smuggled into the country.
Mohammed Ali Abdullah Rahiman and Abdullah Kundor, both from Kasargod in Kerala, were carrying 18,000 Dirhams (about Rs 2.95 lakh) and 19,000 Saudi Riyals (about Rs 3.05 lakh) respectively in their hand baggage. Both the accused were bound to leave for Sharjah.
