Two back-to-back blasts targeting a security vehicle killed a policeman and wounded 19 people today in this restive northwestern Pakistani city.
The blasts occurred in Mathra area with first an improvised explosive device (IED) exploding when a police vehicle was passing from the area. Soon after the first blast, police arrived at the scene and was trying to cordon off the area when another explosion shook the area.
"One policeman was killed and 19 people, including some policemen were injured," an official of the Lady Reading Hospital said.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack but the Pakistani Taliban are active in the area and often carry out such attacks.
