Additional Sessions Judge Mandi Padam Singh Thakur yesterday sentenced Pushap Raj and Raj Kumar to rigorous imprisonment for seven years and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on each for attempting to murder Karam Singh.
On April 24, 2012, the convicts had picked up a quarrel with the victim in a marriage and inflicted grievous injuries, police said.
Singh was seriously injured and stated to be in coma after the incident.
The police registered a case against the accused under various sections of the IPC on a complaint of Dhani Ram, the victim's brother.
The court held that the prosecution has proved the case beyond a shadow of doubt and passed the sentence yesterday after hearing the convicts on quantum of sentence.
As per the order, the convicts will have to undergo imprisonment for one more year in case they are unable to pay the penalty amount.
