2 cops booked for seeking bribe

An FIR has been registered against two policemen for allegedly threatening and taking bribe from a person after the victim sent the recording of the incident to Delhi Police's anti-corruption WhatsApp helpline.
The accused policemen have not been arrested as the recording has been sent for forensic test and further investigation is underway.
The complainant has forwarded a video/audio recording on the whatsApp helpline of vigilance, recorded by him on February 17, in which he has recorded his conversation with Head Constable Ram Kamal of Ambedkar Nagar police station.
"The complainant stated that he was falsely implicated in a criminal case under the Arms Act, when he lodged a complaint to the local police regarding sale of contraband drugs and activity of 'satta' on his plot situated in Ambedkar Nagar, which is allegedly in the unauthorised possession of a person," said DCP (Vigilance) Sindhu Pillai.

SI Bijender Singh asked the complainant to pay Rs 50,000 to prevent his arrest in the above criminal case, when he expressed his innocence, the amount was reduced to Rs 20,000.
Bijender took out Rs 10,000 from his pocket and asked him to pay the balance of Rs 10,000 to the beat Head Constable Ram Kamal, the DCP said.

The recording allegedly contains conversation between the complainant and Head Constable Ram Kamal.
In the video/audio recording, the alleged Head Constable is seen/heard taking bribe of Rs 10,000 on behalf of SI Bijender Singh, the IO of the case.
On the statement of the complainant, a case under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered and an investigation is on, she said.
