The incident occurred today when the four girls along with their teacher, were waiting at the Jamdevi bus stop, to go to their school to attend International Yoga Day event, Gondal Taluka police station sub-inspector B M Juneja said.
"One girl died on the spot, when a speeding pick-up van ran over her. Four others, including the teacher, were injured. Another girl succumbed to her injuries while she was on her way to the hospital," Juneja said.
"The injured have been admitted to a civil hospital, and their condition was stated to be normal," he said.
Police said the pick-up van driver also sustained injuries and he was rushed to Gondal civil hospital from where he was referred to Rajkot civil hospital for further treatment.
A complaint has been registered against the van driver for rash driving, the officer said.
