Two youths arrested for allegedly assaulting a 20-year-old Mass Communication student publicly by tearing off her clothes and threatening her with rape were today denied bail by a Delhi court.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ekta Gauba denied bail to the duo, both in their 20s and resident of Patel Nagar here, noting that they face serious allegations of assaulting the girl and then threatening her that they would rape her and throw her in a sewer and also upload her photographs on obscene websites.
"Since the allegations against them are of assaulting a girl in public place with intention to disrobe her and also of criminal intimidation, there is no merit in their bail application," the court said.
The duo -- Tarandeep and Gaurav -- were arrested on the complaint of the victim late last month.
She said in her complaint that she used to go for tuitions in Patel Nagar in west Delhi and both the boys had been following her in a car for the past three months on her way home from tuitions.
On one occasion, they again followed her in a car and intercepted her. They then clicked some photographs and told her that they would post them on some websites.
However, she told the court that what led her to approaching the police was an incident of April 27.
On that day, when she was returning home from tuitions, the duo again started following her. One of them then dragged her towards the rock garden here. While Gaurav held her by force, Tarandeep tore her clothes off. They also slapped her and then threatened her with rape.
The girl told the court that the accused also slapped her and threatened her that they would rape her and throw her in a sewer.
The girl deposed that she somehow managed to get out of their hold and came on the main road and succeeded in saving herself.
The accused then threatened her that if she reports the matter to the police, they would post her photographs on the Internet, including on obscene websites.
While seeking bail, Tarandeep said he has been implicated by the girl to extract money whereas Gaurav submitted that he has been implicated at the behest of some criminal.
The duo have been booked under section 354B (assaulting a woman wirh intention of disrobing or compelling her to be naked in any public place) and 506 (criminal intimidation)IPC.
