Two labourers were buried alive and as many injured, when a four-storey underconstruction building collapsed today in Maholi road area, police said.
Dilip alias Bhola (25) and Sunni (28) died on the spot while two others are undergoing treatment at a hospital, Alok Priyadarshi, SP (City) said.
While Junior Engineer Satish Sharma was suspended, Assistant Engineer Amit Kadiyan has been issued a showcause notice on charges of dereliction of duty, Vijai Kumar, Secretary, Mathura Vrindaban Development Authority said.
"The action was initiated against the employees due to dereliction of duty. A dairy shopowner continued construction even after a notice was issued to him to stop the construction since the design map was rejected earlier," he said.
An FIR has been registered against the shopkeeper Pappu and his cashier Manoj under section 304 of IPC, following the deaths, police said.
Meanwhile Mool Chand, father of one of victim Dilip, alleged that the building collapsed due to the use of sub-standard materials for construction.
"The shopkeeper was warned by my son about use of sub- standard construction material. However, his advice was not taken seriously. He is responsible for my son's death," Mool Chand said.
