2 Maoists sentenced to life for killing 3 policemen

Two Maoists were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court here for killing three policemen in an encounter eight years ago.
The court of District and Additional Sessions Judge (IV), S N Mishra, awarded the sentence to Manoj Kumar Tehri (53) and Mangla Dehri (50) for their involvement in an encounter, in April 2008 on Dumka-Pakur road under Shikaripara police station area of the district, in which three policemen--Samsad Ansari, Nasir Ansari and Ram Dayal Paswan were killed.
Both of them were convicted under various sections of the IPC.
Tehri had been arrested on the spot, while Dehri and another person Chhota Chandan Dehri (62) had been arrested subsequently. Chhota Chandan was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Additional public prosecutor Ajay Kumar Shah said it was the first conviction of naxalites in a Sessions court in the state.
