Acting on a tip off, a Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) team intercepted a Patna-bound bus from Siligudi on Patna end of Gandhi Setu and arrested two smugglers, identified as Naeem Alvi (21) and Shakeel Ahmed (55) along with five kg opium, worth Rs. Five crore in international market, the sources said.
The contraband, stuffed in one packet each, were brought by bus by the smuggler duo on way to Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
The duo, hailing from Bareilly town, had smuggled contraband substances to hometown on two-three occasions earlier, the sources said, adding they have been booked under provisions of the NDPS Act.
