2 women attacked for 'practising witchcraft'

A group of people attacked two women on suspicion that they practise witchcraft at Kukurmaragaon village in Assam's Kamrup district, police said here today.
The two women, identified as Nirada Das and Pratibha Das, were beaten up late last night in the village under Chaygaon police station, a police spokesman said.
After receiving information, police went to the place, rescued the women and admitted them to Gauhati Medical College Hospital.
A case has been registered but no one was arrested, the spokesman said.
