The private bus skidded off a bridge near Chandpura village around 4 am and fell into the 15-feet deep gorge of Jamni river, about 75 kms from the district headquarters, Prithvipur police station in-charge C L Parihar said.
The bus, carrying around 65 passengers, was going from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh towards Khargapur town of Tikamgarh when its driver lost control over the wheels on the bridge, he said.
The driver and other staff of the bus fled the spot after the accident.
A seriously hurt passenger was referred to Jhansi for treatment while the other injured persons were given first aid at a primary health centre in Prithvipur town here and allowed to go home, Parihar said.
The injured people included a nine-year old girl and three women, he added.
