Assam government's Planning and Development Department (PND) has prepared a 20-year Perspective Infrastructure Development Plan for infrastructural development of the state .
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi discussed the PND's comprehensive infrastructure development plan at a meeting here today where he asked the concerned departments and line departments to make a feasibility study of 200 proposed projects and submit reports to him.
The PND will be the nodal department and Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla suggested creation of eight to ten sub groups to make an in-depth study of the proposed projects, an official release said.
The PIDP comprises four core sectors--roads and Inland Water Transport, Urban Development, Industry and Power.
Effective and efficient execution of the physical, policy level and institutional interventions in the different sectors will lead to development of multi-modal transport corridors, development of urban nodes and industrial growth centres along these transport corridors and augmentation and strengthening of power infrastructure.
Around Rs 3,60,000 crore of investment was estimated to develop the envisaged infrastructure and the major part of the investments will be met through multilateral funding and private investments.
The meeting was attended by Public Works Department minister Ajanta Neog, Additional Chief Secretaries and departmental heads.
