2016: When things fell apart for celebrity couples

The film industry power couples and their romance may give fans major relationship goals but in 2016 "pyaar" seemed "impossible" for celebrities, signalling the end of many fairytale love stories.
From Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt to Bollywood's Farhan Akhtar-Adhuna Bhabani many marriages came to an end. The year also saw Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif and Sushant Singh Rajput-Ankita Lokhande part ways.
Jolie-Pitt: One of the most shocking break-ups of the year was that of Hollywood's A-list couple Jolie and Pitt. Shipped by fans as 'Brangelina', they split just two years after their marriage.
The couple, who share three biological and three adopted children, are headed for an acrimonious split after Jolie filed for divorce on September 19, citing "irreconcilable differences".

Pitt had to face allegations of child abuse following the divorce announcement. Though he was cleared, the couple's carefully built image took a major hit.
Amber Heard-Johnny Depp: Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's brief marriage was another high profile break-up in Hollywood. Depp, who was earlier in a long-term relationship with Vanessa Paradis, started dating Heard, who he met on the set of their 2012 film "The Rum Diary."

After just 15 months of marriage, the actress filed for divorce in May, claiming the actor physically abused her. The former couple is still fighting over settlement money.
Farhan Akhtar-Adhuna Bhabani: Actor Farhan Akhtar and his hairstylist wife Adhuna decided to "mutually and amicably" end their 15-year-long marriage. The couple, who have two children Shakya and Akira, issued a joint statement announcing their separation.

Arbaaz Khan-Malaika Arora: One of Bollywood's favourite couples Malaika and Arbaaz announced their separation early this year after mutually deciding for the dissolution of their 16-year-old marriage. The couple filed for divorce last month.
Liev Schreiber-Naomi Watts: Actress Naomi Watts parted
ways with her partner of 11 years, Liev Schreiber. The couple announced their decision to split via a statement on September 26. The duo, who never married, are the parents of sons- Alexander "Sasha" and Samuel.
Katrina Kaif-Ranbir Kapoor: Actors Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor ended their love affair early this year. The couple, who moved in together around two years ago, decided to part ways while they were still working on "Jagga Jasoos".

Sushant Singh Rajput-Ankita Lokhande: Another long-term relationship came to an end when Sushant and Ankita decided to part ways this year. Sushant, who tasted success with "M S Dhoni: The Untold Story" on professional front, has avoided speaking about what led to the split.
Lady Gaga-Taylor Kinney: The pop star and her actor fiance ended their five-year romance in July. The couple got engaged in February 2015. Sources blamed the break-up on long distance.
Taylor Swift-Calvin Harris: This year singer Taylor Swift's romantic life made for major tabloid fodder. In the beginning of the year, the "Bad Blood" hitmaker ended her more than six months long romance with DJ Calvin Harris and moved to Tom Hiddelston.

Swift, 26, and "Avengers" actor, 35, went public on June 15, when photos of the couple frolicking on the beach in Rhode Island went viral.
The pair went on to meet each other's parents, celebrated July 4th together at Swift's annual star-studded bash and enjoyed PDA-filled trips to Italy and Australia. But the romance survived just for three months.
Gautami-Kamal Haasan: In one of the most high profile splits in Tamil cinema, actress Gautami Tadimalla announced she was separating from veteran star Kamal Haasan, terming it as "one of the most devastating decisions that I have ever had to make in my life."

The star couple, who were together for around 13 years, parted ways almost three months after it was reported that Haasan's actress daughter Shruti and Gautami had a showdown during the making of their latest film "Sabaash Naidu".
