Minister of State for I&B Rajyavardhan Rathore in his written reply in the Lok Sabha, said 227 complaints had been received in the year 2013-14, 160 in 2014-15, 139 in 2015-16 and 218 in 2016-17.
In a written response to a question Rathore said that Electronic Media Monitoring Centre (EMMC) has been set up by the government with a view to monitor content telecast on private channels with reference to violation of programme and advertising codes.
The nature of complaints is regarding content aired by TV channels alleging violation of various of Programme Code and Advertising Code.
