A Delhi court today fixed January 27 for recording statements of five additional CBI witnesses in the 2G spectrum allocation case in which former Telecom Minister A Raja, DMK MP Kanimozhi and others are facing trial.
Special CBI Judge O P Saini, who had earlier fixed today for hearing final arguments in the case, posted the matter for recording of statements of these five witnesses, including Enforcement Directorate (ED) Deputy Director Rajeshwar Singh.
After the matter was fixed for final arguments, the court had allowed CBI's plea to summon these additional witnesses and had said that it would hear final arguments in the case after recording the statements of these witnesses.
Besides Rajeshwar Singh, the other additional witnesses are ED's Assistant Director Satyendra Singh, Under Secretary in Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Navil Kapur and bank official D Mani.
Apart from these four persons, the court had also allowed CBI's plea seeking to recall General Manager (Finance) of Kalaignar TV (P) Ltd G Rajendran, who had earlier deposed as a witness in the case, for further examination.
Earlier, on September 10, the special court had concluded recording of defence evidence in the case.
In its charge sheet, CBI had alleged that there was a loss of Rs 30,984 crore to the exchequer in allocation of 122 licences for 2G spectrum which were scrapped by the Supreme Court on February 2, 2012.
The special judge, who is exclusively dealing with 2G scam cases, had concluded recording of defence evidence in the case in which the CBI had examined 153 witnesses while the accused called 29 witnesses in their defence.
