3 boats added to Coast Guard Eastern Fleet

Enhancing Coast Guard's capability in ensuring maritime safety and security, a Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) and two interceptor boats were today commissioned into the CG's Eastern fleet.
Lieutenant General Ajay Kumar Singh (retd), Lt Governor of Puducherry, commissioned FPV 'Anagh' and Interceptor Boats C-430 and C-417 here today in a traditional ceremony with full military honours, a Coast Guard release said.
These ships would enhance Coast Guard's capability in furthering its mandate of maritime safety and security, environmental protection and coastal security and add more teeth to is existing fleet on the Eastern Sea Board, it said.
ICGS Anagh is a 50 meter long, water jet propelled high speed FPV with displacement of 290 tonnes and a maximum speed of 33 knots. It is capable of undertaking multifarious tasks such as surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue, and medical evacuation, the release said.

ICGS C-430 and C-417 are among 36 interceptor boats being built and inducted into the Coast Guard. They have an overall length of 27.8 metres, displacement of 101 tonnes and maximum speed of 45 knots. These twin diesel engine boats with twin water jet propulsion are capable of taking on coordinated operations with other sea-air units, besides surveillance, interdiction and search and rescue, it said.
The boats are fitted with state-of-the-art communication, and navigational equipment and a main armament of 12.7 mm HMG (Prahari), the release said.
