Three youths from Ahmedabad drowned in the Sabarmati river near Vadnagar in Mehsana district today, police said.
They were part of a group of about a dozen youths from Ahmedabad who were visiting a picnic spot near Ramdevpir temple at Vaghdi, a Vadnagar police station official said.
Ayush Patel, Bhavya Patel and Mihir Patel drowned when they entered the water for a swim with others, said inspector S J Goswami.
The deceased, in the age group of 17-18, were residents of Sattadhar Society in Ghatlodiya locality in Ahmedabad, Goswami said.
The bodies were fished out with the help of local people, he said.
