3 held for alleged desecration of deities

Three people were detained on Saturday after members of Hindu organisations alleged desecration of pictures of some deities in Dadra village here, police said.

Station House Officer, Musafirkhana, Vishwanath Yadav said some people were performing a 'prayer ceremony' in front of the home of a person identified as Devi Dayal Gupta.

The SHO said they detained Gupta and two others involved in the prayers to prevent any untoward incident. Police said nothing objectionable was found.

A probe is on in the matter, he said.
