The incident happened when the ill-fated Baghmundi-bound bus from Jalda fell into a roadside ditch and turned turtle resulting in the death of three, identified as Nimai Mukhopadhyay (45), Chitto Mahato (32) and Bighu Mahato (29), Purulia SP Nilkanto Sudhir Kumar said.
Sixteen injured in the mishap have been admitted to the Purulia Sadar Hospital, he said.
