The injured were rushed to PGIMER in Chandigarh after the mishap which occurred in the evening, they said.
Police said one of the cars was coming from the direction of Delhi, while the other was on the way to Karnal, adding that while crossing the Indian Oil Corporation depot, one of the vehicles jumped on to the divider and collided with the other car on the adjoining lane.
According to hospital sources, the three injured persons belong to Hapur.
