Three persons of a family, including two children, were killed and a woman was injured after an empty lorry hit them in Bankura district, police said today.
The incident happened yesterday near Joyrampur on Bishnupur-Sonamukhi road under the jurisdiction of Joyrampur police station when the four were returning home on bicycles after visiting a fair, the police said.
All of them were admitted to a hospital where three of them succumbed to their injuries, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bankura, Sukhendu Hira, said.
The deceased were identified as 35-year-old Ganesh Bhui, his 12-year-old son Suvom and 7-year-old daughter Priyanka, he said.
The injured woman, Bhui's wife, is under treatment and her condition is stated to be serious, he said.
The lorry was seized but the driver fled, the SP added.
