With the arrest of Nimakat Ali, 40, Musheer, 23, and Fazal, 22, the police claimed to have solved the robbery cum murder case and recovered the looted articles one-and-a half-kg silver including some antique coins and Rs 14,700 in cash.
According to police, the incident came to light on the afternoon of December 8, when one Manmohan called at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and informed that he visited the residence of Ajit Kumar Goyal and found him dead while the house was ransacked.
While Goyal was residing alone in his Gandhi Nagar house, his wife and daughter were staying at Ashoka Niketan in Karkardooma here.
"Initially the case was absolutely blind as there was no clue regarding any visitor and according to the relatives and friends of the deceased, he had not enmity with anyone.
"Since the victim lived alone, there was nobody to explain the looted articles, if any or any clue. However, it was found that the deceased had negotiated some persons to sell his house and had a plan to relocate himself near the residence of his elder brother," Ajay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, East Delhi, said.
Police team got a tip off and went to Uttar Pradesh and different parts of Delhi and Budayan residents -- Ali, Musheer and Fazal-- were arrested.
Police said during interrogation, the accused disclosed that they used to visit the victim's house to buy scrap and they along with two others made a plan to rob and murder Goyal as they anticipated handsome booty from the crime.
On the morning of December 7, they went to Goyal's house but could not execute their plan. They again went there in the evening and Musheer entered the house and engaged the victim in conversation, police said.
