Velmurugan, a B A graduate and a native of Aalwarkurichi, had settled at Thingal Nagar in Kanyakumari district and was running his shop for the past 12 years.
He had lured his customers over the years by telling them that he earned good profit by investing in online business. Believing him, his customers who included doctors, police and other professionals had given him Rs 40 lakh to invest in the business, police said.
Based on this, the Crime Branch team led by DSP, Chinnaiah arrested Velmurugan this morning.
