Replying to a short notice question by the CPI-M MLC Basudev Singh in legislative council, the education minister P K Shahi said that 3493 posts of teachers are vacant in nine universities of the state.
A committee has been set up by Chancellor of universities on the direction of Patna High Court to undertake rationalisation of teachers in the universities of the state, he said.
Meanwhile, Shahi said the state government has put in place fire fighting equipment in 35,796 primary and secondary schools out nearly 70,000 schools, Shahi said in reply to a starred question by BJP MLC Rajnish Kumar.
