Among those suspended, 36 employees belong to Rajouri while one belongs to Samba.
"On the recommendations of a committee constituted for monitoring the work culture in government offices, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, F C Bhagat has suspended 36 officers and officials who were found unauthorisedly absent from duty in the district," a spokesman of the government said.
Most of these employees belong to the teaching fraternity of various government schools in the district, the spokesman added.
Bhagat has directed the controlling officers to conduct an enquiry and furnish a report along with specific recommendations for initiating further action against these officials.
Apart from these 37 officials, the District Development Commissioner of Rajouri has also withheld the pay dues of other employees, mostly teachers, who were also found absent from their duty, till they submit a satisfactory reply through their controlling officers, he said.
In another case, Chief Education Officer Doda M A Rather has recommended suspension of at least 19 employees (teaching staff) of the school education department for dereliction for duties and unauthorised absence after his surprise visits to different schools, the spokesman said.
