A large number of workers were engaged in a work under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme at Eduthukatti village, when a swarm of poisonous wasps from a hive in a tree attacked them, revenue department officials said.
The injured were admitted to Porayar government hospital. One child was sent to Nagapattinam GH for further treatment, they said.
Nagapattinam District Collector T Munusamy and other officials visited the injured.
The injured were recovering fast and being monitored round-the-clock by a medical team, the Collector said.
