4 killed, 10 others injured in accident

Four persons were killed and ten others were injured when a van hit a roadside tree at Palpara Khanpur area under the limits of Kotwali police station in Nadia district today, the police said.
Two of the deceased were identified as Gaba Das (16) and Asim Biswas (75), while the other two dead were yet to be identified, a senior officer of the Kotwali police station said.
Around 20 people hailing from the Krishnaganj area in Nadia were returning home in the van after submitting a deputation to the District Magistrate and on their way, the van lost control and hit the tree, the officer said.

Three persons were killed on the spot, while Asim Biswas died at the hospital. The injured were rushed to Shaktinagar district hospital in Krishnagram where the condition of four of them was stated to be critical, he said adding, the bodies have been sent for post mortem.
