Four persons were killed and four others injured after a fire broke out at a factory in Muzaffarpur district on Monday, police said.
The death toll may go up as three persons have gone missing after the fire broke out in the morning, the police said.
The incident happened at a snacks manufacturing unit near Chak Nuran village under the jurisdiction of Bochahan police station, a police officer said.
A total of 15 persons managed to come out of the factory after the fire broke out, the police officer said, adding seven persons were reported missing initially.
Of the seven missing, bodies of four were found during a search operation later, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manoj Kumar told PTI.
The operation will continue on Tuesday, the SSP said.
Since the bodies could not be identified because they were badly burnt, DNA profiling will be carried out for identification of bodies, Kumar said, adding, four out of the 15 persons, who managed to escape during the fire, suffered burn injuries.
They have been admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) here, the SSP said.
Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and other experts have reached the site and will be able to tell about the cause of fire once the rescue operation is over, the SSP added.
The owner and manager of the factory have been absconding since the incident.
