A team of Food and Drug Authority (FDA) of Uttar Pradesh yesterday seized ingredients used in manufacturing synthetic milk from two houses in Taty Gaon Road locality here and picked up two persons for questioning, FDA Chief Inspector, Chandan Pandey told PTI today.
The cost of these ingredients, which include 15 bags of dry glucose, is estimated to be Rs 4 lakh, he said, adding that, the face value of the synthetic milk in the market would have been around Rs 24 lakh.
The raids are being carried out as part of a drive launched by the state government against the production of highly-toxic synthetic milk in the district.
Under the drive, eight cases have been lodged against different dairies, Pandey said, adding that a fine of Rs 8 lakh has been levied on a dairy which is one of the highest penalties ever levied for such a crime in the state.
